| 7 | 7 | | 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 631.50, is amended to read: |

| 42 | 42 | | 2.11 By September 1, 2025, the commissioner of corrections, chief executive officer, sheriff, |

| 43 | 43 | | 2.12or other officer in charge of a state or county institution which is supported, wholly or in |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | 2.13part, by public funds that houses persons serving a felony sentence shall inquire into the |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | 2.14nationality of each person in their custody who is serving a felony sentence. If it appears |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | 2.15that the person is an undocumented alien, the officer shall immediately notify the United |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | 2.16States immigration officer in charge of the district in which the correctional facility, jail, or |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | 2.17other institution is located of (1) the date of the conviction and the crime for which the alien |
|---|
