333.041.1.[Eachapplicantforalicensetopracticefuneraldirectingshallfurnish
2evidencetoestablishtothesatisfactionoftheboardthatheorsheisatleasteighteenyearsof
3age,andpossessesahighschooldiploma,ageneralequivalencydiploma,orequivalent
4thereof,asdetermined,atitsdiscretion,bytheboard.
5 2.Everypersondesiringtoentertheprofessionofembalmingdeadhumanbodies
6withinthestateofMissouriandwhoisenrolledinaprogramaccreditedbytheAmerican
7BoardofFuneralServiceEducation,anysuccessororganization,orotheraccreditingentityas
8approvedbytheboardshallregisterwiththeboardasapracticumstudentupontheform
9providedbytheboard.Aftersuchregistration,astudentmayassist,underthedirect
10supervisionofMissourilicensedembalmersandfuneraldirectors,inMissourilicensed
11funeralestablishments,whileservinghisorherpracticum.Theformforregistrationasa
12practicumstudentshallbeaccompaniedbyafeeinanamountestablishedbytheboard.
13 3.]Eachapplicantforastudentlicensetopracticeembalmingshallsubmitan
14applicationtothestateboardofembalmersandfuneraldirectors,payallapplication
15fees,andfurnishevidencetoestablishtothesatisfactionoftheboardthatheorshe:
16 (1)Isatleasteighteenyearsofage,andpossessesahighschooldiploma,ageneral
17equivalencydiploma,orequivalentthereof,asdetermined,atitsdiscretion,bytheboard;and

29custody,shelteranddispositionofdeadhumanbodiesandthetransportationthereoforhas
30passedthenationalboardexaminationoftheConferenceofFuneralServiceExamining
31Boards.Ifanyapplicantfailstopassthestateexamination,heorshemayretakethe
32examinationatthenextregularexaminationmeeting.Theapplicantshallnotifytheboard
33officeofhisorherdesiretoretaketheexaminationatleastthirtydayspriortothedateofthe
34examination.Eachtimetheexaminationisretaken,theapplicantshallpayanew
35examinationfeeinanamountestablishedbytheboard;
36 (4)Hasbeenemployedfulltimeinfuneralserviceinalicensedfuneralestablishment
37andhaspersonallyembalmedatleasttwenty-fivedeadhumanbodiesunderthepersonal

46 2.Afterastudent'sapplicationhasbeenapprovedbytheboard,student

49licensedforembalmingunderthischapter.Studentlicenseesshallnotassistwhennot

51 3.Inordertobeeligibleforfulllicensure,astudentlicenseeshall,after
52completingafuneralserviceeducationprogramaccreditedbytheAmericanBoardof

61 4.Iftheapplicantdoesnotcompletetheapplicationprocesswithinthefiveyears
62afterhisorhercompletionofanapprovedprogram,thenheorshemustfileanewapplication
63andnofeespaidpreviouslyshallapplytowardthelicensefee.
64 5.Examinationsrequiredbythissectionandsection333.042shallbeheldatleast
65twiceayearattimesandplacesfixedbytheboard.Theboardshallbyruleandregulation
66prescribethestandardforsuccessfulcompletionoftheexaminations.
67 6.(1)Uponestablishmentofhisorherqualificationsasspecifiedbythissection[or
68section333.042], theboardshallissuetotheapplicantalicensetopracticefuneral[directing
69or]embalming[, asthecasemayrequire,] andshallregistertheapplicantasa[dulylicensed
70funeraldirectorora]dulylicensedembalmer.Anypersonhavingthequalificationsrequired

333.042.1.[Everypersondesiringtoentertheprofessionoffuneraldirectinginthis
2stateshallmakeapplicationwiththestateboardofembalmersandfuneraldirectorsandpay
3thecurrentapplicationandexaminationfees.Exceptasotherwiseprovidedinsection41.950,

5apprenticeshipforatleasttwelveconsecutivemonthsinafuneralestablishmentlicensedfor
6thecareandpreparationforburialandtransportationofthehumandeadinthisstateorin
7anotherstatewhichhasestablishedstandardsforadmissiontopracticefuneraldirectingequal
8to,ormorestringentthan,therequirementsforadmissiontopracticefuneraldirectinginthis
9state.Theapplicantshalldevoteatleastfifteenhoursperweektohisorherdutiesasan
10apprenticeunderthesupervisionofaMissourilicensedfuneraldirector.Suchapplicantshall
11submitprooftotheboard,onformsprovidedbytheboard,thattheapplicanthasarrangedand
12conductedtenfuneralservicesduringtheapplicant'sapprenticeshipunderthesupervisionofa
13Missourilicensedfuneraldirector.Uponcompletionoftheapprenticeship,theapplicantshall
14appearbeforetheboardtobetestedontheapplicant'slegalandpracticalknowledgeof
15funeraldirecting,funeralhomelicensing,preneedfuneralcontractsandthecare,custody,
16shelter,dispositionandtransportationofdeadhumanbodies.Uponacceptanceofthe
17applicationandfeesbytheboard,anapplicantshallhavetwenty-fourmonthstosuccessfully
18completetherequirementsforlicensurefoundinthissectionortheapplicationforlicensure
19shallbecancelled.
20 2.Ifapersonappliesforalimitedlicensetoworkonlyinafuneralestablishment
21whichislicensedonlyforcremation,includingtransportationofdeadhumanbodiestoand
22fromthefuneralestablishment,heorsheshallmakeapplication,paythecurrentapplication
23andexaminationfeeandsuccessfullycompletetheMissourilawexamination.Heorshe
24shallbeexemptfromthetwelve-monthapprenticeshiprequiredbysubsection1ofthis
25sectionandthepracticalexaminationbeforetheboard.Ifapersonhasalimitedlicense
26issuedpursuanttothissubsection,heorshemayobtainafullfuneraldirector'slicenseifheor
27shefulfillstheapprenticeshipandsuccessfullycompletesthefuneraldirectorpractical
28examination.
29 3.IfanindividualisaMissourilicensedembalmerorhascompletedaprogram
30accreditedbytheAmericanBoardofFuneralServiceEducation,anysuccessororganization,
31orotheraccreditingentityasapprovedbytheboardorhassuccessfullycompletedacourseof
32studyinfuneraldirectingofferedbyaninstitutionaccreditedbyarecognizednational,
33regionalorstateaccreditingbodyandapprovedbythestateboardofembalmersandfuneral
34directors,anddesirestoentertheprofessionoffuneraldirectinginthisstate,theindividual
35shallcomplywithalltherequirementsforlicensureasafuneraldirectorpursuantto
36subsection1ofsection333.041andsubsection1ofthissection;however,theindividualis
37exemptfromthetwelve-monthapprenticeshiprequiredbysubsection1ofthissection.]
38Everypersondesiringtoengageinthepracticeoffuneraldirectingasanapprenticein
39thisstateshallobtainaprovisionalfuneraldirectorlicensefromtheboard.Toapplyfor
40aprovisionallicense,theapplicantshallsubmitanapplicationtothestateboardof

42toestablishtothesatisfactionoftheboardthatheorshe:
43 (1)Isatleasteighteenyearsofage;and
44 (2)Willworkasanapprenticefuneraldirectorunderpersonalsupervisionofa
45funeraldirectorlicensedunderthischapter.Theapplicantshallprovidetotheboard
46thenameandlicensenumberofthefuneraldirectorwhowillperformhisorher
47supervisionandthelocationwheretheapplicantwillpractice.
48 2.Anapplicantforaprovisionalfuneraldirectorlicenseundersubsection1of
49thissectionshallhavetwenty-fourmonthstocompletetherequirementsforlicensure
50underthissection.Iftheapplicantfailstocompletetherequirementswithinsuch
51period,theapplicationforlicensureshallbecancelled.Iftheapplicationiscancelled,
52theapplicantshallberequiredtofileanewapplicationandpayapplicablefees.No
53previousapprenticeshipshallbeconsideredforthenewapplication.
54 3.Everypersondesiringtoentertheprofessionoffuneraldirectinginthisstate
55shallsubmitanapplicationtothestateboardofembalmersandfuneraldirectors,pay
56thecurrentapplicationfees,andfurnishevidencetoestablishtothesatisfactionofthe

68recognizednational,regional,orstateaccreditingbodyandapprovedbythestateboard
69ofembalmersandfuneraldirectors;
70 (c)PassedtheNationalBoardorStateBoardArtsexaminationandsuccessfully
71completedaqualifyingapprenticeshipforatleasttwelvemonths,duringwhichthe
72applicantestablishestothesatisfactionoftheboardthatheorsheconductedand
73arrangedatleasttenfunerals;or
74 (d)Successfullycompletedaqualifyingapprenticeshipforatleasttwelve
75months,duringwhichtheapplicantestablishestothesatisfactionoftheboardthatheor

86 5.Everypersondesiringtoobtainafuneraldirectorlimitedlicenseinthisstate

101successfullycompletingaprogramaccreditedbytheAmericanBoardofFuneral

104 8.Theboardshall,uponrequest,waiveanyrequirementofthischapterand
105issueatemporaryfuneraldirector'slicense,validforsixmonths,tothesurvivingspouse
106ornextofkinorthepersonalrepresentativeofalicensedfuneraldirector,ortothe
107spouse,nextofkin,employee,orconservatorofalicensedfuneraldirectordisabled
108becauseofsickness,mentalincapacity,orinjury.
