Thisbilldefines"Grade-levelequivalence",ametricdevelopedand
usedbytheDepartmentofElementaryandSecondaryEducation(DESE)
toshowastudent'sproximitytodoinggrade-levelwork,and
requiresDESEtoestablishpanelstoreviewandrevisethe
performance-leveldescriptorsforeachacademicsubjectandgrade
level.Thebillidentifiesanddescribestheperformancelevel
descriptorsas:advanced,proficient,gradelevel,basic,andbelow
basicwithspecifiedcharacteristics foreachlevel.
Beginninginthe2026-27schoolyearandineachsubsequentyear
theschoolaccountability reportcardmustprovideeachstudent's
grade-levelequivalenceasmeasuredonthestatewideassessment.
Datarelatingtothegrade-levelequivalencemustbesearchableon
abuilding-by-building,school-by-school,district-by-district,and
statewidelevel.Suchdatamustdisplayapercentageofstudents
atgradeleveloraboveforeachlevel,providedthatnodatawill
disclosepersonalidentification ofanystudentexcepttoa
student'sparent.
