10	10	WHEREAS,July2025marksthe30thanniversaryoftheSrebrenicagenocide,oneof
11	11	2thedarkestchaptersinmodernEuropeanhistory,wheremorethan8,000Bosniakmenand
12	12	3boysweresystematicallyexecutedbyBosnianSerbforcesinandaroundthetownof
13	13	4SrebrenicainBosniaandHerzegovina;and

15	15	6 WHEREAS,theInternationalCriminalTribunalfortheformerYugoslavia(ICTY)
16	16	7andtheInternationalCourtofJustice(ICJ)havebothrecognizedtheatrocitiescommittedin
17	17	8Srebrenicaasgenocide,acrimeagainsthumanitythatdeeplyscarsthecollectiveconscience
18	18	9oftheglobalcommunity;and

20	20	11 WHEREAS,in2005,theUnitedStatesCongressadoptedHouseResolution199,
21	21	12officiallyrecognizingtheSrebrenicamassacreasgenocideandreaffirmingthecommitment
22	22	13oftheUnitedStatestotheprinciplesofjustice,accountability,andreconciliation;and

24	24	15 WHEREAS,severalU.S.states,includingMichiganandIllinois,havepassed
25	25	16resolutionscommemoratingtheSrebrenicagenocideandestablishingofficialdaysof
26	26	17remembrance,reflectingabroad,nationwiderecognitionofthisatrocity;and

28	28	19 WHEREAS,thestateofMissouriishometooneofthelargestBosnianpopulations
29	29	20outsideofBosniaandHerzegovina,withavibrantcommunitythathasgreatlyenrichedthe
30	30	21cultural,social,andeconomicfabricofourstate;and
31	31	22 23 WHEREAS,theMissouriBosniancommunityhasplayedasignificantrolein
32	32	24educatingthepublicabouttheeventsinSrebrenicaandfosteringdialoguearoundthe

40	40	32RepresentativesoftheOneHundredThirdGeneralAssembly,FirstRegularSession,the
41	41	33Senateconcurringtherein,herebysolemnlycommemoratethe30thanniversaryofthe
42	42	34Srebrenicagenocide,honoringthememoryofthosewhoperishedandstandinginsolidarity
43	43	35withthesurvivorsandthefamiliesofthevictims;and

45	45	37 BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthatJuly11,2025,shallbedesignatedas
46	46	38"SrebrenicaGenocideRemembranceDay"inMissouriinrecognitionoftheprofoundloss
47	47	39andsufferingenduredbythevictimsandtheirfamilies,andasareminderoftheimportance
48	48	40ofpreventingsuchatrocitiesinthefuture;and
