JOINTRESOLUTION
SubmittingtothequalifiedvotersofMissourianamendmentrepealingSection49ofArticle
IIIoftheConstitutionofMissouri,andadoptingonenewsectioninlieuthereof
relatingtoinitiativepetitions.
BeitresolvedbytheHouseofRepresentatives,theSenateconcurringtherein:
ThatatthenextgeneralelectiontobeheldinthestateofMissouri,onTuesdaynext
2followingthefirstMondayinNovember,2026,orataspecialelectiontobecalledbythe
3governorforthatpurpose,thereisherebysubmittedtothequalifiedvotersofthisstate,for
4adoptionorrejection,thefollowingamendmenttoArticleIIIoftheConstitutionofthestate
5ofMissouri:
SectionA.Section49,ArticleIII,ConstitutionofMissouri,isrepealedandonenew
2sectionadoptedinlieuthereof,tobeknownasSection49,toreadasfollows:
Section49.Thepeoplereservepowertoproposeandenactorrejectlawsand
2amendmentstotheconstitutionbytheinitiative,independentofthegeneralassembly,and
3alsoreservepowertoapproveorrejectbyreferendumanyactofthegeneralassembly,except
4ashereinafterprovided.Nomeasurethatissubmittedbytheinitiativeandapprovedbya
5majorityofthevotescastthereonshallbeamendedorrepealedbythegeneralassembly
6exceptbyreferendum.
