A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1 
AN ACT DESIGNATING T HE FREEDOM FLAG AS A SYMBOL OF THE STATE 'S 2 
CONTINUED REMEMBRANC E OF THE LIVES LOST DUE TO THE TERRORIST 3 
ATTACKS ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, AND AUTHORIZING THE FREEDOM FLAG 4 
TO BE DISPLAYED ON SEPTEMBER 11 OF EACH YEAR. 5 
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 6 
SECTION 1. Chapter 145 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new 7 
section to read: 8 
"ยง 145-32.1.  9/11 remembrance; Freedom Flag. 9 
The Freedom Flag created by the Freedom Flag Foundation is designated as a symbol of the 10 
State's continued remembrance of American lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks in the 11 
United States on September 11, 2001. The Freedom Flag may be flown with the flags of the 12 
United States and of the State of North Carolina on public buildings and institutions and at county 13 
courthouses across the State on September 11 of each year. Any named public office or public 14 
official may accept a donation of one or more Freedom Flags to be displayed as provided in this 15 
section." 16 
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 17
