| 24 | 23 | | guidelines for the development and implementation of individual diabetes care plans. The boards 11 |

| 25 | 24 | | also shall make available necessary information and staff development to teachers and school 12 |

| 26 | 25 | | personnel in order to appropriately support and assist students with diabetes in accordance with 13 |
|---|
| 27 | 26 | | their individual diabetes care plans. 14 |

| 28 | 27 | | (b) Governing bodies of public school units shall ensure that each school provides parents 15 |
|---|
| 29 | 28 | | and legal guardians with information about type 1 and type 2 diabetes at the beginning of every 16 |
|---|
| 30 | 29 | | school year. This information shall include all of the following: 17 |
|---|
| 31 | 30 | | (1) A description of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. 18 |
|---|
| 32 | 31 | | (2) A description of the risk factors and warning signs associated with type 1 and 19 |
|---|
| 33 | 32 | | type 2 diabetes. 20 |
|---|
| 34 | 33 | | (3) A recommendation that if a student is displaying warning signs associated 21 |
|---|
| 35 | 34 | | with diabetes, the parent or guardian of the student consult with the primary 22 |
|---|
| 36 | 35 | | care provider of the student to determine if immediate screening for diabetes 23 |
|---|
| 37 | 36 | | is appropriate. 24 |

| 38 | 37 | | (4) A description of the screening process for and stages of diabetes. 25 |
