1010 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Celebrating the life
1111 and accomplishments of beloved educator and Legislative
1212 Assistant Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson.
1313 WHEREAS, The members of the Nevada Legislature on this day
1414 remember and celebrate the life of Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson; and
1515 WHEREAS, Pat was born May 3, 1945, in Los Angeles,
1616 California, before eventually settling with her family in northern
1717 Nevada, where she graduated from Sparks High School and the
1818 University of Nevada, Reno; and
1919 WHEREAS, Generations of young people were coached or taught
2020 by Pat over a career spanning 30 years at E. Otis Vaughn Middle
2121 School, Earl Wooster High School and Galena High School, during
2222 which she exhibited tremendous leadership qualities to her students
2323 and the new teachers that she mentored; and
2424 WHEREAS, After retirement, Pat could be found cheering on her
2525 grandchildren at sporting events, traveling to exotic places and
2626 spending time with people close to her heart; and
2727 WHEREAS, Pat also enjoyed volunteering for worthy causes,
2828 including her commitment to keep alive in Carson City, Nevada the
2929 once struggling Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society
3030 International, which is an honor society for key women educators;
3131 and
3232 WHEREAS, Pat became an essential part of the family in
3333 legislative service as she spent nine regular sessions aiding,
3434 corralling and supporting the Ohrenschall Legislators, beginning
3535 with former Assemblywoman Genie Ohrenschall Daykin and
3636 continuing through the 2019 Legislative Session; and
3737 WHEREAS, During the pandemic, meet-ups with friends from
3838 both Pat’s time teaching and her time working for the Legislature
3939 ensured Pat was not isolated during her illness, and these gatherings
4040 evolved into the Wine Wednesday community of more than 30
4141 women coming together to support Pat and who, in turn, found
4242 support among each other; and
4343 WHEREAS, An inspiration to so many, Pat showered those
4444 around her with her carefree spirit, unlimited kindness and
4545 unwavering love, often expressed in greeting cards of her own
4646 creation; and

5151 WHEREAS, Married for over 50 years to her husband R.F.
5252 “Dick” Hutson, who passed away in 2018, Pat is survived by sons
5353 Richard and Steven Hutson and their families; and
5454 WHEREAS, Nevada has lost a beloved daughter, mother, sister
5555 and wife, and dedicated professional to education and the
5656 Legislature with the passing of Pat on March 28, 2023; now,
5757 therefore, be it
5858 RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, THE
5959 ASSEMBLY CONCURRING, That the members of the 82nd Session of
6060 the Nevada Legislature remember and celebrate the life of Patricia
6161 “Pat” Jo Hutson on this day and extend their deepest condolences to
6262 Pat’s family and friends; and be it further
6363 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and
6464 transmit a copy of this resolution to Pat’s family; and be it further
6565 RESOLVED, That this resolution becomes effective upon
6666 adoption.
