10	10	SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Celebrating the life
11	11	and accomplishments of beloved educator and Legislative
12	12	Assistant Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson.
13	13	WHEREAS, The members of the Nevada Legislature on this day
14	14	remember and celebrate the life of Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Pat was born May 3, 1945, in Los Angeles,
16	16	California, before eventually settling with her family in northern
17	17	Nevada, where she graduated from Sparks High School and the
18	18	University of Nevada, Reno; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Generations of young people were coached or taught
20	20	by Pat over a career spanning 30 years at E. Otis Vaughn Middle
21	21	School, Earl Wooster High School and Galena High School, during
22	22	which she exhibited tremendous leadership qualities to her students
23	23	and the new teachers that she mentored; and
24	24	WHEREAS, After retirement, Pat could be found cheering on her
25	25	grandchildren at sporting events, traveling to exotic places and
26	26	spending time with people close to her heart; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Pat also enjoyed volunteering for worthy causes,
28	28	including her commitment to keep alive in Carson City, Nevada the
29	29	once struggling Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society
30	30	International, which is an honor society for key women educators;
31	31	and
32	32	WHEREAS, Pat became an essential part of the family in
33	33	legislative service as she spent nine regular sessions aiding,
34	34	corralling and supporting the Ohrenschall Legislators, beginning
35	35	with former Assemblywoman Genie Ohrenschall Daykin and
36	36	continuing through the 2019 Legislative Session; and
37	37	WHEREAS, During the pandemic, meet-ups with friends from
38	38	both Pat’s time teaching and her time working for the Legislature
39	39	ensured Pat was not isolated during her illness, and these gatherings
40	40	evolved into the Wine Wednesday community of more than 30
41	41	women coming together to support Pat and who, in turn, found
42	42	support among each other; and
43	43	WHEREAS, An inspiration to so many, Pat showered those
44	44	around her with her carefree spirit, unlimited kindness and
45	45	unwavering love, often expressed in greeting cards of her own
46	46	creation; and

51	51	WHEREAS, Married for over 50 years to her husband R.F.
52	52	“Dick” Hutson, who passed away in 2018, Pat is survived by sons
53	53	Richard and Steven Hutson and their families; and
54	54	WHEREAS, Nevada has lost a beloved daughter, mother, sister
55	55	and wife, and dedicated professional to education and the
56	56	Legislature with the passing of Pat on March 28, 2023; now,
57	57	therefore, be it
58	58	RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, THE
59	59	ASSEMBLY CONCURRING, That the members of the 82nd Session of
60	60	the Nevada Legislature remember and celebrate the life of Patricia
61	61	“Pat” Jo Hutson on this day and extend their deepest condolences to
62	62	Pat’s family and friends; and be it further
63	63	RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and
64	64	transmit a copy of this resolution to Pat’s family; and be it further
65	65	RESOLVED, That this resolution becomes effective upon
66	66	adoption.
