AUBRY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development -- recommitted to the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Devel- opment in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- reported from committee, advanced to a third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place on the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the economic development law, in relation to the author- ization of the department of economic development to provide funding for any tourist promotion agency that is promoting the sport of stick- ball The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision (a) of section 161 of the economic development 2 law, as amended by chapter 86 of the laws of 2022, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 (a) Encourage, facilitate and coordinate the planning and implementa- 5 tion of programs to advertise, stimulate, promote and increase tourist 6 travel, resort, vacation, culture and convention activities within the 7 state and its regions with such flexibility as to bring about as effec- 8 tive and economical a tourist promotion plan as possible, including 9 authority to provide funding for the sport of stickball. The department 10 shall give a preference to any tourist promotion agency that is promot- 11 ing the sport of cricket; 12 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after 13 it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
