Senate Resolution No. 465 BY: Senator HARCKHAM MOURNING the death of Arthur Klamka, renowned and longtime religious advisor to Westchester Fire Departments, distinguished citizen, and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who, through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive impact on the lives of its residents; Arthur Klamka was one such individual; and WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this Legislative Body records the passing of Arthur Klamka, noting the significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Arthur "Artie" Klamka, a cherished religious advisor and firefighter who spent decades serving local fire departments and his community, died on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 85; and WHEREAS, Known for his unwavering dedication and compassionate spirit, Arthur Klamka touched countless lives during his 45 years of service; and WHEREAS, Arthur Klamka joined the Goldens Bridge Fire Department in 1979 after moving to the area with his wife, Judy; he brought with him a wealth of experience from his time serving in the Ossining and Croton Falls Fire Departments; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Arthur Klamka became a central figure in Northern Westchester's firefighting community, not only as an active department member but also as a trusted chaplain; and WHEREAS, In addition to his service as chaplain, Arthur Klamka participated in numerous fire department committees and activities, truly embodying the spirit of community service; and WHEREAS, Throughout his meritorious life, Artie was known for his selflessness, generosity, and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on the countless lives of all whose lives he touched; and WHEREAS, Arthur Klamka's infinite selflessness and benevolence will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the countless lives he touched; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Arthur Klamka leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Arthur Klamka, and to express its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Arthur Klamka.
