SCARCELLA-SPANTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to provide that schools, child day cares, day care centers, or community based organizations which support activities for children under the age of eighteen can not serve as a shelter for migrants The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, no funds 2 appropriated for the humanitarian aid including short term shelter 3 services to migrant individuals and families, including costs associated 4 with humanitarian emergency response and relief centers for individuals 5 entering short term shelter on or after April 1, 2022 in New York city 6 or any other municipality in New York state may be used for the emergen- 7 cy sheltering of migrant adults in a school, child day care, day care 8 center, or community based organization which supports activities for 9 children under the age of eighteen. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to 11 have been in full force and effect on and after April 1, 2022.
