HARCKHAM, HINCHEY, MAYER, SKOUFIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to reexamina- tion of licensees The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 506 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows: 3 6. The commissioner may require any licensed driver to submit to an 4 examination or reexamination prior to such licensed driver's normal 5 renewal date upon receipt of a recommendation from a court having juris- 6 diction of traffic offenses, or the governor or chief magistrate of a 7 state or territory stating that the driver's ability to operate a motor 8 vehicle safely is questionable. In reviewing such licensed driver's 9 qualifications to operate a motor vehicle, the commissioner shall only 10 consider the previous ten years of the licensed driver's driving record. 11 § 2.
