WEBB -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to directing the development of a demonstration program to authorize individuals aged sixteen and seventeen to be consumer directed personal assistants; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 365-f of the social services law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3 3-a. (a) The commissioner is directed to develop a demonstration 4 program to authorize individuals aged sixteen and seventeen, who are in 5 compliance with section one hundred thirty-two of the labor law, to be 6 consumer directed personal assistants under the instruction, supervision 7 and direction of a consumer or consumer's designated representative in 8 the consumer directed personal assistance program pursuant to this 9 section. 10 (b) An individual serving as a consumer directed personal assistant 11 pursuant to the demonstration program developed under this section shall 12 not be authorized to work more than eight hours a day, six days a week. 13 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 14 deemed repealed three years after such date.
