BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2011, S ection 1-1201, is amended to read as follows: Section 1-1201. (a) A. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or maintain a hotel unless he or she shall have first obtained, and holds, a license issued for such purpose by the State Commissioner of Health. Unless otherwise provided by rule by the State Board of Health, each such license shall expire on the 30th day of June next following its issuance, and the Commissioner shall charge and collect therefor an annual fee to be fixed by the Board of Health. The term "hotel" as used in this section shall mean and include any hotel, motel, tourist court, apartment house, rooming house, or other place where sleeping accommodations are furnished, or offered, for pay for transient guests, if four or more ro oms are HB1748 HFLR Page 2 BOLD FACE denotes Committee Amendments. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 available therein for transient guests. This section shall apply to the operation of a hotel by a state board. (b) B. The State Board of Health may adopt reasonable standards, rules and regulations for hotels as to the following: buildings and appurtenances thereto, including plumbing, ventilation and lighting; construction, cleanliness and bactericidal treatment of equipment and utensils; cleanliness and hygiene of personnel; toilet facilities; disposal of wastes; water supply; and any other items deemed necessary to safeguard the health, comfort and safety of guests accommodated therein . The Board shall promulgate rules requiring hotels to conspicuously post tornado safety information in every room and common area in the same manner as fire evac uation information. The tornado safety information shall be designed by the Board and posted immediately by all hotels under new construction and by existing hotels as those hotels ' safety information is updated. At a minimum, the tornado safety information shall list the county the hotel is in, the hotel 's location on a state map, information regarding what a hotel guest should do to stay safe during a tornado and, if applicable, the day and time of community tornado siren testing .
