5049 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5150 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2011, S ection 1-1201, is
5251 amended to read as follows:
5352 Section 1-1201. (a) A. It shall be unlawful for any person to
5453 operate or maintain a hotel unless he or she shall have first
5554 obtained, and holds, a license issued for such purpose by the State
5655 Commissioner of Health. Unless otherwise provided by rule by the
5756 State Board of Health, each such license shall expire on the 30th
5857 day of June next following its issuance, and the Commissioner shall
5958 charge and collect therefor an annual fee to be fixed by the Board
6059 of Health. The term "hotel" as used in this section shall mean and
6160 include any hotel, motel, tourist court, apartment house, rooming
6261 house, or other place where sleeping accommodations are furnished,

89-or offered, for pay for transient guests, if four or more rooms are
9090 available therein for transient guests. This section shall apply to
9191 the operation of a hotel by a state board.
9292 (b) B. The State Board of Health may adopt reasonable
9393 standards, rules and regulations for hotels as to the following:
9494 buildings and appurtenances thereto, including plumbing, ventilation
9595 and lighting; construction, cleanliness and bactericidal treatment
9696 of equipment and utensils; cleanliness and hygiene of personnel;
9797 toilet facilities; disposal of wastes; water supply; and any other
9898 items deemed necessary to safeguard the health, comfort and safety
9999 of guests accommodated therein . The Board shall promulgate rules
100100 requiring hotels to conspicuously post tornado safety information in
101101 every room and common area in the same manner as fire evac uation
102102 information. The tornado safety information shall be designed by
103103 the Board and posted immediately by all hotels under new
104104 construction and by existing hotels as those hotels ' safety
105105 information is updated. At a minimum, the tornado safety
106106 information shall list the county the hotel is in, the hotel 's
107107 location on a state map, information regarding what a hotel guest
108108 should do to stay safe during a tornado and, if applicable, the day
109109 and time of community tornado siren testing .
110110 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 202 1.
