26	55		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE ST ATE OF OKLAHOMA:

28	56		SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 47 O.S. 2011, Section 11 -309, as
29	57		last amended by Section 1, Chapter 184, O.S.L. 2018 (47 O.S. Supp.
30	58		2020, Section 11-309), is amended to read as follows:

32	59		Section 11-309. Whenever any roadway has been divided into two
33	60		or more clearly marked lan es for traffic, the following requirements
34	61		in addition to all others consistent herewith shall apply.

36	62		1. A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely
37	63		within a single lane.

39	64		2. A vehicle shall not be moved from the lane until the driver
40	65		has first ascertained that the movement can be made with safety and

41	93		then given a signal, not less than the last one hundred (100) feet
42	94		traveled by the vehicle, of his or her intention to change lanes.

44	95		3. Upon a roadway which is divided into three lanes, a veh icle
45	96		shall not be driven in the center lane except when overtaking and

	97	+	passing another vehicle where the roadway is clearly visible and the
47	98		center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, or in
48	99		preparation for a left turn or where the center lane i s at the time
49	100		allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the direction the vehicle
50	101		is proceeding and is signposted to give notice of the allocation.

52	102		4. A two-way left-turn lane is a lane near the center of the
53	103		highway set aside for use by vehicles making left turns in both
54	104		directions from or into the roadway. Two -way left-turn lanes shall
55	105		be designated by distinctive roadway markings consisting of parallel
56	106		double yellow lines, interior line dashed and e xterior line solid,
57	107		on each side of the lane. A vehi cle shall not be driven in a
58	108		designated two-way left-turn lane except when preparing for or
59	109		making a left turn from or into a roadway. Vehicles turning left
60	110		from the roadway shall not be driven in the t wo-way left-turn lane
61	111		for more than two hundred (200) feet while preparing for and making
62	112		the turn. A vehicle turning left onto the roadway may utilize the
63	113		two-way left-turn lane as a staging area by stopping and waiting for
64	114		traffic proceeding in the same direction to clear before merging
65	115		into the adjacent lanes of travel. A left turn shall not be made
66	116		from any other lane where a two -way left-turn lane has been

67	144		designated. Provided, however, this section shall not prohibit
68	145		driving across a two -way left-turn lane when moving from a service
69	146		drive onto such marked roadway.

71	147		5. A vehicle shall not be driven in the left lane of a roadway
72	148		except when overtaking and passing another vehicle; provided,
73	149		however, this paragraph shall not prohibit driving in the left lane
74	150		when traffic conditions, flow or road configura tion, such as the
75	151		potential of merging traffic, require the use of the left lane to
76	152		maintain safe traffic conditions; provided further, this paragraph
77	153		shall not prohibit driving in the left lane of a roa dway within the
78	154		city limits of a municipality or upon a county road as long as such
79	155		roadway is not part of the National System of Interstate and Defense
80	156		Highways or a turnpike.

82	157		6. Official signs may be erected directing slow -moving traffic
83	158		to use a designated lane or designating those lanes to be used by
84	159		traffic moving in a particular direction regardless of the center of
85	160		the roadway, and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of
86	161		every such sign.

88	162		Any person convicted of violating any provision of th is section
89	163		shall be punished as provided for in Secti on 17-101 of this title.
