| 47 | 55 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | |
| 48 | 56 | SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 22 O.S. 2011, Section 926.1, is | |
| 49 | 57 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 50 | 58 | Section 926.1 In all cases of a verdict of conviction for any | |
| 51 | 59 | offense against any of the laws of the State of Oklahoma, the jury | |
| 52 | 60 | may, and shall, upon the request of the defendant, assess and | |
| 53 | 61 | declare the punishment in their verdict within the limitations fixed | |
| 54 | 62 | by law, and the court shall render a judgment according to such | |
| 55 | 63 | verdict, except as hereinafter provided. In addition, the jury may | |
| 56 | 64 | recommend that the senten ce be deferred or suspended, as provided by | |
| 57 | 65 | law. | |
