An Act relating to daylight saving time; ordering a 
legislative referendum pursuant to the Oklahoma 
Constitution; establishing standard time in this 
state on certain date; specifying effect on certain 
actions; exempting Oklahoma from the federal daylight 
saving time provision; authorizing future action; 
providing for codification; providing ballot title ; 
and directing filing. 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.  Pursuant to Section 3 of Article V of the Oklahoma 
Constitution, there is hereby ordered the following legislative 
referendum which shall be filed with the Secretary of State and 
addressed to the Governor of the state, who shall submit the same to 
the people for their approval or rejection at the General Election. 
SECTION 2.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codifie d 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Se ction 70 of Title 25, unless there is 
created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
A.  On November 8, 2022, the standard time in Oklahoma shall be 
known as Central Standard Time.

B.  This section shall not be constr ued to affect the standard 
time established by United States law governing the movements of 
common carriers engaged in interstate commerce or the time for 
performance of an act by an of ficer or department of the United 
States, as established by a statute, lawful order, rule, or 
regulation of the United States or an age ncy hereof. 
C.  As authorized by the Uniform Time Act of 1966, as amended, 
and notwithstanding any other provisions of l aw to the contrary by 
the United States government relating to adoption of daylight saving 
time by all of the states, the State of Okla homa elects to reject 
such time and elects to continue in force the terms of subsection A 
of this section relating to standard time in Oklahoma. 
D.  The rejection of daylight saving time as pro vided for in 
this section may be changed by future legislativ e action. 
SECTION 3.  The Ballot Title for the proposed act shall be in 
the following form: 
BALLOT TITLE 
Legislative Referendum No. ____ State Question No. ____ 
THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS: 
The measure establishes that standard time in Oklahoma shall be 
known as Central Standard Time.  The measure rejects the 
adoption of daylight saving time in this state and mandates the 
state operate on standard time.  The measure allows future 
legislative action regarding the rejection of day light saving

time.  Central Standard Tim e in Oklahoma shall begin on November 
8, 2022.

SECTION 4.  The Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, 
immediately after the passage of this act, shall prepare and file 
one copy thereof, including the Ballot Title set forth in SECTION 3 
hereof, with the Secre tary of State and on e copy with the Attorney 
General.
