4040 An Act relating to correctional officers; increasing

4848 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOP LE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
4949 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
5050 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 528.9 of Title 57, unless there
5151 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
5252 Effective July 1, 2022, the minimum compensation for corrections
5353 officers of the Department of Corre ctions who were employed by the
5454 state on the last working day of June 2022, shall be increased to an
5555 annual salary of Thirty-nine Thousand Three Hundred Twenty Dollars
5656 ($39,320.00), which is the average annual wage of year-round, full-
5757 time corrections officers, as derived from data obtained in a 2020
5858 National Compensation Survey published by the United States Bureau
5959 of Labor Statistics.

8686 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2022.
8787 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
8888 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency i s hereby
8989 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
