AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to correctional officers; increasing 
minimum compensation for corrections officers; 
providing for codification; providing an effective 
date; and declaring an emergency . 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOP LE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 528.9 of Title 57, unless there 
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
Effective July 1, 2022, the minimum compensation for corrections 
officers of the Department of Corre ctions who were employed by the 
state on the last working day of June 2022, shall be increased to an 
annual salary of Thirty-nine Thousand Three Hundred Twenty Dollars 
($39,320.00), which is the average annual wage of year-round, full-
time corrections officers, as derived from data obtained in a 2020 
National Compensation Survey published by the United States Bureau 
of Labor Statistics.

SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 2022. 
SECTION 3.  It being immediately necessary for the preservation 
of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency i s hereby 
declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and 
be in full force from and after its passage an d approval.
