BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 24 -140, is amended to read as follows: Section 24-140. A. In an effort to provide more time for school administrators and principals to perform their employment duties and meet expectations, there shall be modifica tions and professional development opportu nities provided and funded to allow administrators and principals to be more efficient and effective in their roles. An administrator or princi pal may use a maximum of three (3) professional development days each school year in lieu of the professional development required by Section 6 -194 of this title; provided, that they have completed the initial p rofessional development training. All costs and fees for the three (3) days shall be incurred by the school district. If approved by the school district superintendent, o ne of the days identified in this paragraph may be designated for grant writing training. 2. Administrators and principals shall complete professional development training required by Section 6-194 of this title initially, and thereafter shall be exempt from the annual or recurring professional development training requirements unless there is a modification or addition to the requirements. B. The State Board of Education shall study programs designed to develop leadership skills for school district administrators and principals which utiliz e expertise and program availability from private industry. If funds are available, such program shall b e adopted and implemented beginning with the 1992 -93 school year. SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022. 58-2-9312 EK 01/19/22
