AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to the practice of nursing; a mending 
59 O.S. 2021, Section 567.12 , which relates to 
programs for registered and practica l nurses; 
broadening allowed inst itutions; updating statutory 
language; and declaring an emergency . 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     AMENDATORY     59 O.S. 2021, Section 567.12, is 
amended to read as follows: 
Section 567.12. A.  To qualify in this state as an approved 
program for registered nurses, the program shall be conducted in the 
State of Oklahoma this state in an: 
1.  An accredited college or university leading to an associate, 
baccalaureate, or higher degree in nursing ; or 
2. A technology center school approved by the State Board of 
Career and Technology Education or a private school licensed by the 
Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools leading to a diploma in 
nursing. 
Such programs shall meet the standards fixed by the Oklahoma 
Board of Nursing and prescribed in its rules.

B.  To qualify in this state as an a pproved program for 
practical nurses, the p rogram shall be conducted in this state in a 
technology center school or skill center approved by the Oklahoma 
Department State Board of Career and Technology Education or a 
private school licensed by the Oklahoma Board o f Private Vocational 
Schools.  Such programs shall meet th e standards fixed by the 
Oklahoma Board of Nursing as prescribed in its rules, which shall 
conform to the provisions of this subsection. 
SECTION 2.  It being immediately necessary for the preservation 
of the public peace, health or safety, an em ergency is hereby 
declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and 
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
