An Act relating to capitol buildings; providing for 
display of the national motto in the visitor center 
area of the State Capitol Building; authorizing 
certain entities to provide legal defense; providing 
certain construction; providing for codification; and 
providing an effective date. 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.    NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 65 of Title 73, unless there is 
created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
A.  In keeping with the tradition establi shed by the display of 
the national motto in the Tourist Information Ce nter of the United 
States Capitol Building, the administrator of the Office of 
Management and Enterprise Services shall utilize monies from the 
Oklahoma State Capitol Building Repair an d Restoration Fund to 
create an inscription of the national motto of th e United States, 
“In God We Trust”, in a prominently visible location in the visitor 
center of the Oklahoma State Capitol Building.  The placement and 
size of the display shall be i n keeping with the place ment and size

of the display of the national motto in the Tourist Information 
Center of the United States Capitol Building. 
B.  In the event that the legality or constitutionality of the 
inscription is challenged in a court of law, the Oklahoma Attorney 
General is hereby authorized to prepare and present a legal defense 
of the inscription. 
C.  The placement of this inscription shall not be construed to 
mean that the State of Oklahoma favors any particular religion or 
denomination thereof over others. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effecti ve November 1, 2021.
