An Act relating to manslaughter; amending 22 O.S. 
2011, Section 151, which relates to statute of 
limitations; clarifying language; increasing statute 
of limitations for certain crimes; defining term; and 
providing an effective date . 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     AMENDATORY     22 O.S. 2011, Section 151, is 
amended to read as follows: 
Section 151.  A. There is no limitation of the time within 
which a prosecution for murder must be commenced.  It Such 
prosecution may be commenced at any time after the death of the 
person killed. 
B.  Prosecutions for the crimes of first degree manslaughter and 
second degree manslaughter shall be commenced within ten (10) years 
after the discovery of the crime.  For purposes of this subsection,

“discovery” means the date the cr ime is reported to a law 
enforcement agency. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2021.
