8551 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
8652 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2011, Section 519.2, as
8753 last amended by Section 1, Chapter 154, O.S.L. 2020 (59 O.S. Supp.
8854 2020, Section 519.2), is amended to re ad as follows:
8955 Section 519.2. As used in the Physician Assistant Act:
9056 1. “Board” means the State Board of Medical Licensure and
9157 Supervision;
9258 2. “Committee” means the Physician Assistant Committee;
9359 3. “Practice of medicine ” means services which require training
9460 in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, including the
9561 use and administration of drugs, and which are performed by
9662 physician assistants so long as such services are within the
9763 physician assistants ’ skill, form a component of the phys ician’s
98-scope of practice, and are provided with physician supervision,
99-including authenticating by signature any form that may be

12693 authenticated by the delegating physician ’s signature with prior
12794 delegation by the physician;
12895 4. “Patient care setting ” means and includes, but is not
12996 limited to, a physician ’s office, clinic, hospital, nursing home,
13097 extended care facility, patient ’s home, ambulatory surgical center,
13198 hospice facility or any other setting authorized by the delegating
13299 physician;
133100 5. “Physician assistant” means a health care professional,
134101 qualified by academic and clinical education and licensed by the
135102 State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, to practice
136103 medicine with physician supervision;
137104 6. “Delegating physician ” means an individual ho lding a license
138105 in good standing as a physician from the State Board of Medical
139106 Licensure and Supervision or the State Board of Osteopathic
140107 Examiners, who supervises an unlimited number of physician
141108 assistants and delegates decision making pursuant to the practice
142109 agreement;
143110 7. “Supervision” means overseeing or delegating the activities
144111 of the medical services rendered by a physician assistant through a
145112 practice agreement between a medical doctor or osteopathic physician
146113 performing procedures or directly o r indirectly involved with the
147114 treatment of a patient, and the physician assistant working jointly
148-toward a common goal of providing serv ices. Delegation shall be
149-defined by the practice agreement . The physical presence of the

142+toward a common goal of providing services. Delegation shall be
143+defined by the practice agreement . The physical presence of the
176144 delegating physician is not required as long as the delegating
177145 physician and physician assistant are or can be easily in contact
178146 with each other by telecommunication. At all times a physician
179147 assistant shall be considered an agent of the delegating physician;
180148 8. “Telecommunication” means the use of electronic technologies
181149 to transmit words, sounds or images for interpersonal communication,
182150 clinical care (telemedicine) and review of electronic health
183151 records; and
184152 9. “Practice agreement” means a written agreement between a
185153 physician assistant and the delegating physician concerning the
186154 scope of practice of the physician assistant to only be determined
187155 by the delegating physician and the physician assistant based on the
188156 education, training, skills and experience of the physician
189157 assistant. The agreement shall involve the joint formulation,
190158 discussion and agreement on the methods of supervision and
191159 collaboration for diagnosis, consultation and treatment of medical
192160 conditions.
193161 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2021.
