86 | 52 | | SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2011, Section 519.2, as |

89 | 55 | | Section 519.2. As used in the Physician Assistant Act: |
---|
90 | 56 | | 1. “Board” means the State Board of Medical Licensure and |
---|
91 | 57 | | Supervision; |
---|
92 | 58 | | 2. “Committee” means the Physician Assistant Committee; |
---|
93 | 59 | | 3. “Practice of medicine ” means services which require training |
---|
94 | 60 | | in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, including the |
---|
95 | 61 | | use and administration of drugs, and which are performed by |
---|
96 | 62 | | physician assistants so long as such services are within the |
---|
97 | 63 | | physician assistants ’ skill, form a component of the phys ician’s |
---|
126 | 93 | | authenticated by the delegating physician ’s signature with prior |
---|
127 | 94 | | delegation by the physician; |
---|
128 | 95 | | 4. “Patient care setting ” means and includes, but is not |
---|
129 | 96 | | limited to, a physician ’s office, clinic, hospital, nursing home, |
---|
130 | 97 | | extended care facility, patient ’s home, ambulatory surgical center, |
---|
131 | 98 | | hospice facility or any other setting authorized by the delegating |
---|
132 | 99 | | physician; |
---|
133 | 100 | | 5. “Physician assistant” means a health care professional, |
---|
134 | 101 | | qualified by academic and clinical education and licensed by the |
---|
135 | 102 | | State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, to practice |
---|
136 | 103 | | medicine with physician supervision; |
---|
137 | 104 | | 6. “Delegating physician ” means an individual ho lding a license |
---|
138 | 105 | | in good standing as a physician from the State Board of Medical |
---|
139 | 106 | | Licensure and Supervision or the State Board of Osteopathic |
---|
140 | 107 | | Examiners, who supervises an unlimited number of physician |
---|
141 | 108 | | assistants and delegates decision making pursuant to the practice |
---|
142 | 109 | | agreement; |
---|
143 | 110 | | 7. “Supervision” means overseeing or delegating the activities |
---|
144 | 111 | | of the medical services rendered by a physician assistant through a |
---|
145 | 112 | | practice agreement between a medical doctor or osteopathic physician |
---|
146 | 113 | | performing procedures or directly o r indirectly involved with the |
---|
147 | 114 | | treatment of a patient, and the physician assistant working jointly |
---|
176 | 144 | | delegating physician is not required as long as the delegating |
---|
177 | 145 | | physician and physician assistant are or can be easily in contact |
---|
178 | 146 | | with each other by telecommunication. At all times a physician |
---|
179 | 147 | | assistant shall be considered an agent of the delegating physician; |
---|
180 | 148 | | 8. “Telecommunication” means the use of electronic technologies |
---|
181 | 149 | | to transmit words, sounds or images for interpersonal communication, |
---|
182 | 150 | | clinical care (telemedicine) and review of electronic health |
---|
183 | 151 | | records; and |
---|
184 | 152 | | 9. “Practice agreement” means a written agreement between a |
---|
185 | 153 | | physician assistant and the delegating physician concerning the |
---|
186 | 154 | | scope of practice of the physician assistant to only be determined |
---|
187 | 155 | | by the delegating physician and the physician assistant based on the |
---|
188 | 156 | | education, training, skills and experience of the physician |
---|
189 | 157 | | assistant. The agreement shall involve the joint formulation, |
---|
190 | 158 | | discussion and agreement on the methods of supervision and |
---|
191 | 159 | | collaboration for diagnosis, consultation and treatment of medical |
---|
192 | 160 | | conditions. |
---|
193 | 161 | | SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2021. |
---|
