32	59		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

34	60		SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
35	61		in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1 -317d of Title 63, unless ther e
36	62		is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

38	63		A. When the death of an infant occurs in this state and the
39	64		cause of death is considered undetermined , a medical examiner shall
40	65		conduct a sudden unexplained infant death investigation (SUIDI) not
41	66		more than forty-eight (48) hours after the death has occurred . The

44	96		shall interview the parent , legal guardian or caregiver of, or
45	97		person who last had contact with, the deceased infant and shall fill
46	98		out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ’s SUIDI reporting

49	99		form accordingly. The State Department of Health shall retain a
50	100		copy of each completed SUIDI reporting form in or der to compile
51	101		accurate and reliable data on SUIDI to aid and inform the policies
52	102		of the Department, and the Department shall provide a copy of each
53	103		completed SUIDI reporting form to the Child Death Review Board .

55	104		B. As used in this section, “medical examiner” means the Chief
56	105		Medical Examiner, the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner or a medical
57	106		examiner appointed by the Chief Medical Examiner pursuant to Section
58	107		937 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

60	108		SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2021.
