3259 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

3460 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
3561 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1 -317d of Title 63, unless ther e
3662 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

3863 A. When the death of an infant occurs in this state and the
3964 cause of death is considered undetermined , a medical examiner shall
4065 conduct a sudden unexplained infant death investigation (SUIDI) not
4166 more than forty-eight (48) hours after the death has occurred . The

4496 shall interview the parent , legal guardian or caregiver of, or
4597 person who last had contact with, the deceased infant and shall fill
4698 out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ’s SUIDI reporting

4999 form accordingly. The State Department of Health shall retain a
50100 copy of each completed SUIDI reporting form in or der to compile
51101 accurate and reliable data on SUIDI to aid and inform the policies
52102 of the Department, and the Department shall provide a copy of each
53103 completed SUIDI reporting form to the Child Death Review Board .

55104 B. As used in this section, “medical examiner” means the Chief
56105 Medical Examiner, the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner or a medical
57106 examiner appointed by the Chief Medical Examiner pursuant to Section
58107 937 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

60108 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2021.
