77	77	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES O F THE
78	78	1ST SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
79	79	SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
80	80	their approval or rejection, as and in the man ner provided by law,
81	81	the following proposed amendment to Section 1 of Article XIII of the
82	82	Oklahoma Constitution to read as follows:
83	83	Section 1. The A general diffusion of knowledge being essential
84	84	to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the peo ple, it
85	85	shall be the duty of the Legislature shall of the State to establish
86	86	and maintain a make suitable provision for the support and
87	87	maintenance of an efficient and equitable system of free public
88	88	schools wherein all the children of the State may be educated.

145	145	THE GIST OF THE PROPOSI TION IS AS FOLLOWS:
146	146	This measure amends Section 1 of Article 13 of the Oklahoma
147	147	Constitution. This sect ion directs the Legislature to establish
148	148	and maintain a system of free public schools. The amendment
149	149	would modify the duty of the L egislature to establ ish and make
150	150	suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an
151	151	efficient and equitable system of free public schools.

155	155	SECTION 3. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate shall,
156	156	immediately after the passage of this resolution, prepare and file

158	158	hereof, with the Secretary of State and one copy with the Atto rney
