4855 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
4956 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 7 0 O.S. 2021, Section 6 -101.6b, is
5057 amended to read as follows:
51-Section 6-101.6b A. For purposes of this section , "teacher":

5259 1. "Teacher" means the term as defined in para graph 1 of
5360 Section 1-116 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes this title; and
5461 2. "Support employee" means the term as defined in paragr aph 8
5562 of Section 1-116 of this title.
5663 B. No school district shall prohibit or take disciplinary
5764 action against teachers or support employees for:
58-1. Disclosing public information to correct what the teac her or
59-support employee reasonably believes evidences a violation of the
60-Oklahoma Constitution or law or a rule promulgated pursuant to law;

92+1. Disclosing public information to correct what the teac her or
93+support employee reasonably believes evidences a violation of the
94+Oklahoma Constitution or law or a rule promulgated pursuant to law;
8795 2. Reporting a violation of t he Oklahoma Constitution or state
8896 or federal law; or
8997 3. Taking any of the above acti ons without giving prior notice
9098 to the teacher's or support employee's supervisor or anyone else in
9199 the teacher's relevant chain of command.
92100 C. For the purposes of this s ection, "reporting" means
93101 providing a spoken or written account to a supervising teac her,
94102 administrator, school board member, representative from the State
95103 Department of Education, law enforcement official, district
96104 attorney, and/or parent or legal guardia n of a student directly
97105 impacted by the actions.
98106 D. Each school district shall promi nently post or publish a
99107 copy of this section of law in locations where it can reasonably be
100108 expected to come to the attention of all teachers and support
101109 employees.
102110 E. Nothing in this section shall be construed to allow a
103111 teacher or support employee to violate students' or parents' rights
104112 to confidentiality and protection under the Family Educational
105113 Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
106114 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023.
107-SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
108-of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
109-declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
110-be in full force from and after it s passage and approval.
