| 48 | 48 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | |
| 49 | 49 | SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified | |
| 50 | 50 | in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1290.28 of Title 21, unless | |
| 51 | 51 | there is created a d uplication in numbering, reads as follows: | |
| 52 | 52 | A. An individual with a valid handgun license issued pursuant | |
| 53 | 53 | to the provisions of the Ok lahoma Self-Defense Act shall be exempt | |
| 54 | 54 | from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (N ICS) | |
| 55 | 55 | for the purchase of a firearm if: | |
| 56 | 56 | 1. The individual presents his or her handgun license to the | |
| 57 | 57 | licensed dealer prior to purchase of the firearm; and | |
| 58 | 58 | 2. The licensed dealer verifies with the Oklahoma State Bu reau | |
| 59 | 59 | of Investigation tha t the handgun license is valid. | |
| 60 | 60 | B. As used in this section, "license dealer" means a person who | |
| 61 | 61 | is licensed pursuant to Section 923 of Title 18 of the United S tates | |
