73	73	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
74	74	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
75	75	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-112 of Title 70, unless there
76	76	is created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows:
77	77	A. Each school district, public charter school, virtual charter
78	78	school, career and technology school , and institution of higher
79	79	education within The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education shall
80	80	disseminate historic proclamations regarding the Thanksgiving
81	81	holiday. The proclamations shall include:
82	82	1. The Proclamation by the C ontinental Congress for a day of
83	83	Thanksgiving on December 18, 1777;
84	84	2. The First Presidential Prayer Proclamation issued by George
85	85	Washington for November 26, 1789;

138	138	D. Roosevelt for November 23, 1944;
139	139	4. The Thanksgiving Procl amation issued by Ronald Reagan for
140	140	November 28, 1985; and
141	141	5. The Thanksgiving Proclamation issued by Mayor of Oklahoma
142	142	City Sidney Clarke for No vember 28, 1889.
143	143	B. The proclamations included in subsection A of this act may
144	144	be disseminated to students in the following manner:
145	145	1. One proclamation may be read to students in the classroom or
146	146	at a school assembly each of the five days leading up to
147	147	Thanksgiving and prior to a school’s holiday break;
148	148	2. Proclamations may be printed and distributed to students
149	149	each of the five days leading up to Thanksg iving and prior to a
150	150	school’s holiday break; or
151	151	3. Proclamations may be emailed to students each of the five
152	152	days leading up to Thanksgiving and prior to a school’s holiday
153	153	break.
154	154	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023.
155	155	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
156	156	of the public peace, health , or safety, an emergency is hereby
157	157	declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
158	158	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
