65	65	An Act relating to schools; requiring written
66	66	notification to a parent or legal guardian prior to
67	67	administration of any survey to stude nts beginning in
68	68	certain school year; providing for contents of
69	69	notification; defining term; allowing for development
70	70	of certain sample form; providing for codification;
71	71	providing an effective date; and declaring an

77	77	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
78	78	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
79	79	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 24-160 of Title 70, unless there
80	80	is created a duplica tion in numbering, reads as follows:
81	81	A. Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, prior to the
82	82	administration of any survey, a school district, public c harter
83	83	school, or virtual charter school shall provide prior wri tten
84	84	notification to the parent or legal guardian of students to be
85	85	administered the survey. The notification shall i nclude the content
86	86	of the survey and information on how a parent or legal guardian can
87	87	opt a student out of the survey. For the purposes of this section,

139	139	“survey” means a list of questions to or information collected from

141	141	B. The State Department of Education may develop a sample
142	142	notification form that may be used by school districts.
143	143	SECTION 2. This act shall become eff ective July 1, 2023.

145	145	of the public peace, health , or safety, an emergency is her eby
146	146	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
147	147	be in full force from an d after its passage and approval.
