SENATE BILL NO. 7 	By: Stephens, Bergstrom, Jett, 
Hamilton, Pemberton, Woods, 
and Bullard 
 
 
 
 
 
An Act relating to daylight saving time; establishing 
daylight time in this state; specifying effect on 
certain actions; exempting Oklahoma from the federal 
standard time provision; authorizing future action; 
providing that act shall take effect on certain 
authorization; providing for codification; and 
providing a conditional effective date. 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A n ew section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 90.26 of Title 25, unless there 
is created a duplication in nu mbering, reads as follows: 
A.  The standard time in Oklahoma shall be known as Central 
Daylight Time (CDT). 
B.  This section shall not be construe d to affect the standard 
time established by United St ates law governing the moveme nts of 
common carriers engaged in interstate commerce or the t ime for 
performance of an act by an officer or department of the United 
States, as established by a statute, la wful order, rule, or 
regulation of the United States o r an agency thereof.

C.  As authorized by the Uniform Time Act of 1966, as amended, 
and notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary by 
the United States government rel ating to adoption of daylight saving 
time by all of the states, this state elects to adopt such time and 
elects to continue i n force the terms of subsection A of th is 
section relating to the year-round daylight standard time in 
Oklahoma. 
D.  The adopting of daylight saving time as provided for in this 
section may be changed by f uture legislative action. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect only if t he United States 
Congress amends federal law that permits states to enter upon and 
permanently observe daylight saving time.
