2761 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

2962 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 19 O.S. 2021, Section 1 65, is
3063 amended to read as follows:

3264 Section 165. A. In lieu of reimbursement for traveling
3365 expenses within their county each county commissioner and sheriff
3466 may receive a monthly travel allowance of Seven Hundred Dollars
3567 ($700.00) up to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). In lieu of the
3668 reimbursement for traveling expenses authorized by law for each

3796 county officer, each county assessor may receive a monthly travel
3897 allowance of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) up to Nine Hundred
3998 Dollars ($900.00), and each county clerk, court clerk and county
4099 treasurer may receive a monthly travel allowance of Five Hundred
41100 Dollars ($500.00) up to Eight Hundred Dollars ($ 800.00) . Each such
42101 county officer may be subj ect to the penalty provided by Section 166
43102 of this title for fa ilure to attend the meetings specified in that
44103 section.

48104 B. Beginning in Fiscal Year 2028 and every fiscal year
49105 thereafter, the monthly amount of travel reimbursement allowances
50106 for county officers shall increase annually by two percent (2%).

52107 C. All newly elected county officials shall be reimbursed by
53108 their respective counties for any approved training provided before
54109 such official takes office. Such training ex penses shall be
55110 reimbursed in January when such official takes office.

57111 C. D. The provisions of this section and Sections 163 and 164
58112 of this title shall not prevent the emergency use of a county -owned
59113 vehicle or county-owned equipment by a county officer when such
60114 county officer is ac ting on behalf of the county or when such use is
61115 related to county business. As used in this subsection, “emergency”
62116 means an unforeseen combination of circumstances or the resulting
63117 state that calls for immediate action.

65118 SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
66119 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
