5858 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5959 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
6060 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-103.15 of Title 70, unless
6161 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
6262 A. Subject to the availability of funding and in addition to
6363 personal financial literacy education required by the Passport to
6464 Financial Literacy Act, Adulting 101 may be taught as an elective
6565 course in the public schools of this state. Adulting 101 may
6666 include, but is not limited to, the following areas of instruction:

9393 1. Nutrition programs, including cooking;
9494 2. Automobile maintenance;

9999 interviewing for jobs, resume writing and college readiness;
100100 7. Basic financial skills, including understanding cred it
101101 scores and the path to home ownership;
102102 8. Career pathways, including college, trade schools ,
103103 vocational programs and licensing and certificate programs;
104104 9. State and local government;
105105 10. Self-discipline and time management; and
106106 11. Basics of mental hea lth, including stress management
107107 techniques.
108108 B. School districts may provide instruction i n Adulting 101 to
109109 students during grades six through twelve. School districts may
110110 determine when each area of instruction listed in subsection A of
111111 this section may be presented to students. The school district may
112112 partner with the career and technology education system to assist in
113113 teaching Adulting 101.
114114 C. The conditions of thi s section can be accomplished through a
115115 Family and Consumer Science course at the school district. If a
116116 school district does not have a Family and Consumer Science course ,

143143 it may be accomplished through other applicable courses. The
144144 instruction may be offered to students attending school in person,
145145 virtually or a hybrid of both. Specialized certification shall not
146146 be required for teachers who are providing Adulting 101 instruct ion.
147147 D. Schools shall follow Leading, Engaging, Advocating,
148148 Developing Family and Consumer Sciences Education (LEAD FCS)
149149 Standards to implement the course.
150150 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
