45	45	to determine timing for instruction; permitting
46	46	partnership to assist in Adulting 1 01 instruction;
47	47	providing for integration of instructio n in existing
48	48	course; authorizing instruction in person, virtually
49	49	or both; specifying specialized teaching
50	50	certification is not required; requiring certain
51	51	standards for implementation; providing for
52	52	codification; and providing an effective date .

58	58	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
59	59	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
60	60	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-103.15 of Title 70, unless
61	61	there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
62	62	A. Subject to the availability of funding and in addition to
63	63	personal financial literacy education required by the Passport to
64	64	Financial Literacy Act, Adulting 101 may be taught as an elective
65	65	course in the public schools of this state. Adulting 101 may
66	66	include, but is not limited to, the following areas of instruction:

93	93	1. Nutrition programs, including cooking;
94	94	2. Automobile maintenance;
95	95	3. Household repairs;
96	96	4. First aid;
97	97	5. Etiquette, social interaction and interpersonal skills;
98	98	6. Professional development, including applying and
99	99	interviewing for jobs, resume writing and college readiness;
100	100	7. Basic financial skills, including understanding cred it
101	101	scores and the path to home ownership;
102	102	8. Career pathways, including college, trade schools ,
103	103	vocational programs and licensing and certificate programs;
104	104	9. State and local government;
105	105	10. Self-discipline and time management; and
106	106	11. Basics of mental hea lth, including stress management
107	107	techniques.
108	108	B. School districts may provide instruction i n Adulting 101 to
109	109	students during grades six through twelve. School districts may
110	110	determine when each area of instruction listed in subsection A of
111	111	this section may be presented to students. The school district may
112	112	partner with the career and technology education system to assist in
113	113	teaching Adulting 101.
114	114	C. The conditions of thi s section can be accomplished through a
115	115	Family and Consumer Science course at the school district. If a
116	116	school district does not have a Family and Consumer Science course ,

143	143	it may be accomplished through other applicable courses. The
144	144	instruction may be offered to students attending school in person,
145	145	virtually or a hybrid of both. Specialized certification shall not
146	146	be required for teachers who are providing Adulting 101 instruct ion.
147	147	D. Schools shall follow Leading, Engaging, Advocating,
148	148	Developing Family and Consumer Sciences Education (LEAD FCS)
149	149	Standards to implement the course.
150	150	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
