AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to crimes and punishments; making 
certain acts unlawful; providing penalties; providing 
for codification; and providing an effective date. 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 650.12 of Title 21, unless there 
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
A.  Every person who, withou t justifiable or excusable cause and 
with intent to do bodily harm, commits any assault, battery or 
assault and battery upon the person of a postal employee while the 
postal employee is in the performance of his or her duties, upon 
conviction, is guilty of a felony punishable by i mprisonment in the 
custody of the Department of Corrections for a term not exceeding 
two (2) years, or by a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars 
($1,000.00), or by bot h such fine and imprisonment.

SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
