6565 An Act relating to the Department of Corrections;

7575 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7676 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new s ection of law to be codified
7777 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Sectio n 528.9 of Title 57, unless there
7878 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
7979 On the effective date of this act, all personnel of the
8080 Department of Corrections who are employed by the state on the last
8181 working day of June 202 4, who work at medium or maximum security
8282 prison facilities, and have direct contact wit h incarcerated
8383 individuals, shall receive a permanent hazardous duty pay increase
8484 of twenty percent (20%) over their current hourly rate of basic pay,
8585 or an equivalent amoun t if not receiving an hourly wage.
8686 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.

138138 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
139139 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
140140 declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
141141 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
