65	65	An Act relating to the Department of Corrections;
66	66	providing a permanent hazardous duty pay increase to
67	67	certain employees of the Department of Corrections;

75	75	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
76	76	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new s ection of law to be codified
77	77	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Sectio n 528.9 of Title 57, unless there
78	78	is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
79	79	On the effective date of this act, all personnel of the
80	80	Department of Corrections who are employed by the state on the last
81	81	working day of June 202 4, who work at medium or maximum security
82	82	prison facilities, and have direct contact wit h incarcerated
83	83	individuals, shall receive a permanent hazardous duty pay increase
84	84	of twenty percent (20%) over their current hourly rate of basic pay,
85	85	or an equivalent amoun t if not receiving an hourly wage.
86	86	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.

138	138	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
139	139	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
140	140	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
141	141	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
