AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to the Department of Corrections;
providing a permanent hazardous duty pay increase to
certain employees of the Department of Corrections;
providing an effective date; and declaring an
emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new s ection of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Sectio n 528.9 of Title 57, unless there
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
On the effective date of this act, all personnel of the
Department of Corrections who are employed by the state on the last
working day of June 202 4, who work at medium or maximum security
prison facilities, and have direct contact wit h incarcerated
individuals, shall receive a permanent hazardous duty pay increase
of twenty percent (20%) over their current hourly rate of basic pay,
or an equivalent amoun t if not receiving an hourly wage.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.

SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
