AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to crimes and punishments; amending 
21 O.S. 2021, Section 650.6, as amended by Section 1, 
Chapter 136, O.S.L. 2023 (21 O.S. Supp. 2023, Section 
650.6), which relates to assault and battery upon 
county officers and license d process servers; 
increasing penalties for certain unlawful act; and 
providing an effective date . 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     AMENDATORY     21 O.S. 2021, Section 650.6, as 
amended by Section 1, Chapter 136, O.S.L. 2023 (21 O.S. Supp. 2023, 
Section 650.6), is amended to read as follows: 
Section 650.6 A. Every person who commits any assault upon any 
county commissioner, county clerk, county assessor, county 
treasurer, or any officer of a state district or appellate court, or 
the Workers' Compensation Court, including but not lim ited to 
judges, bailiffs, court reporters, court clerks or deputy court 
clerks, or upon any witnesses or juror, because of said person's

service in such capacity or within six (6) months of said person's 
service in such capacity, shal l be guilty of a misde meanor 
punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one 
(1) year, by a fine not to exceed One Thousan d Dollars ($1,000.00), 
or by both such imprisonment and fin e. 
B.  Every person who commits any battery or assault and battery 
upon any county commissioner, county clerk, county assessor, county 
treasurer, or officer of a state district or appellate court, or the 
Workers' Compensation Court, including but not limit ed to judges, 
bailiffs, court reporters, court clerks o r deputy court clerks , or 
upon any witnesses or juror, because of said person's service in 
such capacity or within six (6) months of said pers on's service in 
such capacity, shall be guilty of a felony punishable by 
imprisonment in the custody of the Depart ment of Corrections f or not 
more than five (5) years, by a fine of not more than Five Thousand 
Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both such imprisonme nt and fine. 
C.  Every person who knowingly commits any ass ault, battery or 
assault and battery upon a process ser ver licensed in this state 
while the person is in the performance of his or her duties shall, 
upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor felony punishable by 
imprisonment in the county jail custody of the Depar tment of 
Corrections for not more than one (1) year five (5) years, by a fine 
not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) Five Thousand Dollars 
($5,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.

SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
