AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to elections; creating the
Prohibition of Rank Choice Voting Act; prohibiting
ranked-choice voting; providing for codificat ion;
providing for noncodification ; and providing an
effective date.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law not to be
codified in the Oklahoma Statutes reads as foll ows:
This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Prohibition of
Rank Choice Voting Act".
SECTION 2. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 2-134 of Title 26, unless there
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
A. A ranked-choice voting method that all ows electors to rank
candidates for an offi ce in order of preference and has ballots cast
be tabulated in multiple rounds following the elimination of a
candidate until a single candidate attains a majority shall not be

used in determining the election or nomination of any candidate to
any local, state, or federal elective office in this state.
B. Any existing or future ordinance enacted or adopted by a
county, a municipali ty, or any other local governmental entity which
conflicts with this section is void .
SECTION 3. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
