77	77	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
78	78	SECTION 1. AMENDATORY Section 1, Chapter 281, O.S.L.
79	79	2023 (70 O.S. Supp. 2023, Section 5 -148.1), is amended to read as
80	80	follows:
81	81	Section 5-148.1 A. The State Department of Education sh all
82	82	establish and maintain a three-year pilot program known as the
83	83	School Resource Officer Program.
84	84	B. School resource officers emp loyed or contracted by sc hool
85	85	districts participating in the Sch ool Resource Officer Program shall
86	86	successfully complete forty (40) hours of the National Association
87	87	of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer
88	88	Course training and an additional twelve (12) hours of Adolescent

140	140	Mental Health Training offered by NASRO. Training shall include
141	141	behavioral threat assessment and management and law enforcement
142	142	active shooter emergency response training given by the Council on
143	143	Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) and a pproved by the
144	144	Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
145	145	C. For purposes of this section, "school resource officer"
146	146	means a law enforcement officer with sworn authority and or
147	147	otherwise contracted entity with training in school-based law
148	148	enforcement and crisis response wh o is assigned by an employing law
149	149	enforcement agency to work collaboratively with one o r more schools
150	150	using community-oriented policing concepts.
151	151	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.
152	152	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
153	153	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency i s hereby
154	154	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
155	155	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
