7777 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7878 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY Section 1, Chapter 281, O.S.L.
7979 2023 (70 O.S. Supp. 2023, Section 5 -148.1), is amended to read as

8181 Section 5-148.1 A. The State Department of Education sh all
8282 establish and maintain a three-year pilot program known as the
8383 School Resource Officer Program.
8484 B. School resource officers emp loyed or contracted by sc hool
8585 districts participating in the Sch ool Resource Officer Program shall
8686 successfully complete forty (40) hours of the National Association
8787 of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer
8888 Course training and an additional twelve (12) hours of Adolescent

140140 Mental Health Training offered by NASRO. Training shall include
141141 behavioral threat assessment and management and law enforcement
142142 active shooter emergency response training given by the Council on
143143 Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) and a pproved by the
144144 Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
145145 C. For purposes of this section, "school resource officer"
146146 means a law enforcement officer with sworn authority and or
147147 otherwise contracted entity with training in school-based law
148148 enforcement and crisis response wh o is assigned by an employing law
149149 enforcement agency to work collaboratively with one o r more schools
150150 using community-oriented policing concepts.
151151 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.
152152 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
153153 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency i s hereby
154154 declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
155155 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
