4047 A Joint Resolution directing the S ecretary of State

5259 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE OF THE
53-2ND SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
60+1ST SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
5461 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
5562 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
5663 the following proposed amendment to Section 23 of Article V of the
5764 Constitution of the State of Oklahoma to read as follows:
5865 Section 23. No A. Except as provided for in subsection B of
5966 this section, no member of the Legislature shall, during the term
6067 for which he or she was elected, be appointed or elected to any
61-office or commission in the State, which shall have been created, or
62-the emoluments of which shall have been increased, during his or her
63-term of office, nor shall any member receive any appointment from

95+office or commission in the State, which shall have been created, or
96+the emoluments of which shall have been increased, during his or her
97+term of office, nor shall any member receive any appointment from
9098 the Governor, the Governor and Senate, or from the Legislature,
9199 during the term for which he or she shall have been elected, nor
92100 shall any member, dur ing the term for which he or she shall have
93101 been elected, or within two years thereafter, be interested,
94102 directly or indirectly, in any contract with the State, or any
95103 county or other subdivision thereof, authorized by law passed during
96104 the term for which he or she shall have been elected.
97105 B. The provisions of this section shall not prohibit a member
98106 of the Legislature from being employed as a certified teacher by a
99107 public school district in this state after complet ing the term to
100108 which he or she was elected.
101109 SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional
102110 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in
103111 the following form:

106114 THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
107115 This measure amends Section 23 of Article 5 of the Oklahoma

110118 this state after he or she completes his or her term in office.
