40	47		A Joint Resolution directing the S ecretary of State
41	48		to refer to the people f or their approval or
42	49		rejection a proposed amen dment to Section 23 of
43	50		Article V of the Oklahoma Constitution; allowing a
44	51		member of the Legislature to be employed as a
45	52		certified teacher with a public school district in
46	53		this state after completion of certain term; making
47	54		language gender neutral; providing ballot title; and

52	59		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE OF THE
53		-	~~2ND~~ SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
	60	+	1ST SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
54	61		SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
55	62		their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
56	63		the following proposed amendment to Section 23 of Article V of the
57	64		Constitution of the State of Oklahoma to read as follows:
58	65		Section 23. No A. Except as provided for in subsection B of
59	66		this section, no member of the Legislature shall, during the term
60	67		for which he or she was elected, be appointed or elected to any
61		-	office or commission in the State, which shall have been created, or
62		-	the emoluments of which shall have been increased, during his or her
63		-	term of office, nor shall any member receive any appointment from

	95	+	office or commission in the State, which shall have been created, or
	96	+	the emoluments of which shall have been increased, during his or her
	97	+	term of office, nor shall any member receive any appointment from
90	98		the Governor, the Governor and Senate, or from the Legislature,
91	99		during the term for which he or she shall have been elected, nor
92	100		shall any member, dur ing the term for which he or she shall have
93	101		been elected, or within two years thereafter, be interested,
94	102		directly or indirectly, in any contract with the State, or any
95	103		county or other subdivision thereof, authorized by law passed during
96	104		the term for which he or she shall have been elected.
97	105		B. The provisions of this section shall not prohibit a member
98	106		of the Legislature from being employed as a certified teacher by a
99	107		public school district in this state after complet ing the term to
100	108		which he or she was elected.
101	109		SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional
102	110		amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in
103	111		the following form:

106	114		THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
107	115		This measure amends Section 23 of Article 5 of the Oklahoma
108	116		Constitution. It allows a member of the Legislature to be
109	117		employed as a certified teacher with a public school district in
110	118		this state after he or she completes his or her term in office.
