40	40	An Act relating to student teachers; directing the
41	41	Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to
42	42	allocate funds to certain programs t o provide
43	43	stipends to student teachers; providing amount of
44	44	stipend; directing stipend to be provided in certain
45	45	installment payments with certain frequency;
46	46	providing for codification; providing an effective
47	47	date; and declaring an emergency .

52	52	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
53	53	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
54	54	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-186.1 of Title 70, unless
55	55	there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follow s:
56	56	A. The Oklahoma State Regents for Highe r Education shall
57	57	allocate funds to accredited teacher education programs in
58	58	institutions of higher education within Th e Oklahoma State System of
59	59	Higher Education to provide stipends t o student teachers, as define d
60	60	in Section 1-116 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Stat utes. The stipend
61	61	amount shall be Three Thousand Dollars ( $3,000.00) for the semester
62	62	a student teacher is assigned to perform practice teaching at a
63	63	public school district in this state.

90	90	B. The stipend authorized by subsection A of this section shall
91	91	be provided in three (3) equal installment payments of One Thousand
92	92	Dollars ($1,000.00), with one installment payment distributed to the
93	93	student teacher every four (4) weeks.
94	94	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.
95	95	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
96	96	of the public peace, health , or safety, an emergency is hereby
97	97	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
98	98	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
