SENATE BILL 1213 By: Seifried
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to student teachers; directing the
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to
allocate funds to certain programs t o provide
stipends to student teachers; providing amount of
stipend; directing stipend to be provided in certain
installment payments with certain frequency;
providing for codification; providing an effective
date; and declaring an emergency .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-186.1 of Title 70, unless
there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follow s:
A. The Oklahoma State Regents for Highe r Education shall
allocate funds to accredited teacher education programs in
institutions of higher education within Th e Oklahoma State System of
Higher Education to provide stipends t o student teachers, as define d
in Section 1-116 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Stat utes. The stipend
amount shall be Three Thousand Dollars ( $3,000.00) for the semester
a student teacher is assigned to perform practice teaching at a
public school district in this state.

B. The stipend authorized by subsection A of this section shall
be provided in three (3) equal installment payments of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00), with one installment payment distributed to the
student teacher every four (4) weeks.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.
SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health , or safety, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
