6565 An Act relating to conduct of elections; defining

7373 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7474 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7575 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 7-140 of Title 26, unless there
7676 is created a duplicatio n in numbering, reads as follows:
7777 A. As used in this section:
7878 1. “Instant runoff voting” means any voting system in which a
7979 voter ranks candidates in a sequence from first, second, third, and
8080 onward to determine which candidates advance to a general elec tion;
8181 and
8282 2. “Ranked choice voting, ranked voting, proportional ranked
8383 voting, or preferential voting” means any voting system in which a
8484 voter ranks candidates in a sequence from first, second, third, and
8585 onward on a ballot to determine a winning candida te.

137137 B. No election conducted by the State Election Board, a county
138138 election board, or any entity authorized to conduct elections in
139139 this state shall use ranked choice voting, ranked voting ,
140140 proportional ranked voting, preferential voting, or instant runof f
141141 voting.
142142 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
