27		-	SUBJECT: Unauthorized camps on state -owned lands

29	57		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

31	58		SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
32	59		in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1096 of Title 64, unless there
33	60		is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

35	61		A. As used in this section, “unauthorized camp” means any tent,
36	62		shelter, or bedding constructed or arranged for the purpose of or in
37	63		such a way to permit overnight use on a property not designated as a
38	64		campsite.

40	65		B. Persons may not use state -owned lands for the purposes of
41	66		establishing an unauthorized camp.

43	94		C. Any person who violates the provisions of this section
44	95		shall, upon conviction, b e guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a
45	96		fine not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or by imprisonment in the
46	97		county jail not to exceed fifteen (15) da ys, or by both such fine

49	98		and imprisonment. However, a person who commits a first violation
50	99		of this section shall be issued a warning , and a citation may not be
51	100		issued unless the person refuses any assistance offered to them by
52	101		the arresting officer. Such assistance may include, but is not
53	102		limited to, transportation to a shelter, food pantry, or other place
54	103		where resources are made available to assist the indigent and
55	104		homeless.
