32	75		WHEREAS, the thousands of employees of the Mike Monroney
33	76		Aeronautical Center contribute directly to Oklahoma ’s economy as one
34	77		of the top 10 employers in the Oklahoma Cit y region and as the
35	78		largest Department of Transportation facility outside of Washin gton,
36	79		D.C.; and

38	80		WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy,
39	81		located within the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, offers world -
40	82		class, centralized, standardiz ed, and efficient training for air
41	83		traffic control to over 20,000 students each year. The FAA Academy
42	84		in Oklahoma City serves as the agency ’s primary training facility
43	85		for air traffic controllers; and

48	137		WHEREAS, the mission of the center is to directly supp ort the
49	138		safe and efficient operations of our national and international
50	139		aviation systems; and

52	140		WHEREAS, if one has ever flown anywhere and had a safe and
53	141		uneventful flight, much of the credit goes to the Mike Monroney
54	142		Aeronautical Center and the premier tra ining that is performed in
55	143		Oklahoma.

57	144		NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 1ST SESSION
58	145		OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

60	146		THAT the Oklahoma State Senate acknowledges and is grateful for
61	147		the individuals who guard our friendly skies by undergoin g the
62	148		arduous training necessary and being willing to serve in a
63	149		responsible position in America’s air traffic control towers.

65	150		THAT the Oklahoma State Senate recognizes and applauds the
66	151		continued existence of a critical national aviation security center
67	152		in Oklahoma City and the vital role it plays anywhere one flies in
68	153		our great nation.

70	154		THAT the Oklahoma State Senate honors the nearly 80 -year
71	155		presence of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and wishes to
72	156		express its support for many more decades of its pla ying a central
73	157		role in aviation.
