3275 WHEREAS, the thousands of employees of the Mike Monroney
3376 Aeronautical Center contribute directly to Oklahoma ’s economy as one
3477 of the top 10 employers in the Oklahoma Cit y region and as the
3578 largest Department of Transportation facility outside of Washin gton,
3679 D.C.; and

3880 WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy,
3981 located within the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, offers world -
4082 class, centralized, standardiz ed, and efficient training for air
4183 traffic control to over 20,000 students each year. The FAA Academy
4284 in Oklahoma City serves as the agency ’s primary training facility
4385 for air traffic controllers; and

48137 WHEREAS, the mission of the center is to directly supp ort the
49138 safe and efficient operations of our national and international
50139 aviation systems; and

52140 WHEREAS, if one has ever flown anywhere and had a safe and
53141 uneventful flight, much of the credit goes to the Mike Monroney
54142 Aeronautical Center and the premier tra ining that is performed in
55143 Oklahoma.

57144 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 1ST SESSION
58145 OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

60146 THAT the Oklahoma State Senate acknowledges and is grateful for
61147 the individuals who guard our friendly skies by undergoin g the
62148 arduous training necessary and being willing to serve in a
63149 responsible position in America’s air traffic control towers.

65150 THAT the Oklahoma State Senate recognizes and applauds the
66151 continued existence of a critical national aviation security center
67152 in Oklahoma City and the vital role it plays anywhere one flies in
68153 our great nation.

70154 THAT the Oklahoma State Senate honors the nearly 80 -year
71155 presence of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and wishes to
