Resolution ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11 By: Rosino, Alvord, Bergstrom, Boren, Brooks, Bullard, Burns, Coleman, Daniels, Deevers, Dossett, Frix, Gillespie, Gollihare, Goodwin, Green, Grellner, Guthrie, Hall, Hamilton, Haste, Hicks, Hines, Howard, Jech, Jett, Kern , Kirt, Mann, McIntosh, Murdock, Nice, Paxton, Pederson, Prieto, Pugh, Rader, Reinhardt, Sacchieri, Seifried, Standridge, Stanley, Stewart, Thompson, Weaver, Wingard, and Woods A Resolution recognizing the critical national aviation security role played by the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and its Federal Aviation Administration Academy ; and honoring the center ’s contribution. WHEREAS, the thousands of employees of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center contribute directly to Oklahoma ’s economy as one of the top 10 employers in the Oklahoma City region and as the largest Department of Transportation facility outside of Washington, D.C.; and WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy, located within the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Cen ter, offers world- class, centralized, standardized, and efficient training for air traffic control to over 20,000 students each year. The FAA Academy in Oklahoma City serves as the agency ’s primary training facility for air traffic controllers; and ENR. S. R. NO. 11 Page 2 WHEREAS, the mission of the center is to directly support the safe and efficient operations of our national and international aviation systems; and WHEREAS, if one has ever flown anywhere and had a safe and uneventful flight, much of the credit goes to the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and the premier training that is performed in Oklahoma. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE: THAT the Oklahoma State Senate acknowledges and is grateful for the individuals who guard our friendly skies by undergoing the arduous training necessary and being willing to serve in a responsible position in America ’s air traffic control towers. THAT the Oklahoma State Senate recognizes and applauds the continued existence of a critical national aviation security center in Oklahoma City and the vital role it plays anywhere one flies in our great nation. THAT the Oklahoma State Senate honors the nearly 80 -year presence of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and wishes t o express its support for many more decades of its playing a central role in aviation.
