CONCURRENT RESOLUTION Whereas Frank David Cutsforth was born on March 25, 1943, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Elsie Egli Cutsforth and Glenn Cutsforth; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth grew up with his sisters Kathleen and Cynthia in Canby, Oregon; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth graduated from Canby High School, where he played basketball and baseball, and he was a member of the 1960 state championship baseball team; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth attended the University of Oregon and Portland State University be- fore deciding to return to Canby and help run the family grocery store, which was established in 1928 by his grandparents; and Whereas Cutsforth’s Market has become a Canby institution, and the grocery industry became Frank Cutsforth’s lifelong career, but his influence extended far beyond the store and its many loyal customers;and Whereas Frank Cutsforth married Kathleen Carrigg in 1970 and together they raised five chil- dren; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth was a consummate family man and a proud father who loved coaching the many sports teams of his children and supporting them in all their activities; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth was a man of strong faith and he lived his life accordingly; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth was a kind and gentle man who touched the lives of countless others with his spirit and generosity; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth loved sports of every kind, and he was an avid and lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, traveling many times to see them play in their home stadi- ums; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth enjoyed the outdoors, and he took great pleasure in sharing fishing trips to Alaska with his children, friends and business associates; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth was passionate about classic cars and he was a beloved fixture in the classic car community; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth hosted the wildly popular Cutsforth’s Cruise-In for 30 years, an annual event that supported downtown Canby businesses by drawing in hundreds of vintage cars and thousands of visitors; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth gave tirelessly of himself to support community groups and events, and he was an active member of the Rotary Club of Canby, serving as president in 1994-1995; and NOTE:Matter in boldfaced type in an amended section is new; matter [italic and bracketed] is existing law to be omitted. LC 4711 HCR33 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 Whereas Frank Cutsforth’s pride in Canby was unmistakable, and he was instrumental in making Canby a better place to live, work and play for generations of Canbyites; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth became a cherished community legend who was fondly nicknamed “Mr. Canby”; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth passed away on November 2, 2023, at his home in Canby, with his family by his side; and Whereas Frank Cutsforth’s dedication to his family and his community was unwavering, and the void left by his passing is immeasurable; and Whereas Frank “Mr. Canby” Cutsforth will forever be remembered for the profound and lasting impact he had on his community; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: That we, the members of the Eighty-third Legislative Assembly, celebrate the life and accom- plishments of Frank David Cutsforth, and we recognize and honor his contributions to the Canby community and the people of the State of Oregon; and be it further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution shall be presented to the family of Frank Cutsforth as an expression of our sympathy and condolences.
