Prohibits colleges and universities from withholding a student's transcript due to the student failing to pay any expenses owed to the college or university but permits the withholding of a student's academic credits and grades or diploma or degree.
Provides the state would cover dialysis for the treatment of end stage renal disease ("ESRD") and kidney transplants for persons who do not qualify for full Medicaid due to their immigration status.
Adds a new section which sets forth conditions for pharmacists to prescribe tobacco cessation/drug therapies, programs approved by the state board of pharmacy. The cessation therapies would be covered by all health insurance carriers on or after 1/1/25.
Eliminate all exceptions to the provision that all employees are to be paid weekly except for employees of the state and its political subdivisions, municipal governments, and non-profit organizations with less than twenty-five (25) employees.
Provides for code blue and code red alerts to trigger certain procedures municipalities must follow during extreme heat or cold to help at-risk individuals with shelter.
JOINT RESOLUTION CONFERRING LIMITED PURPOSE RECOGNITION TO THE NATIVE AMERICAN SEACONKE WAMPANOAG TRIBE (Recognizes the Seaconke Wampanoag tribe as a Native American Indian tribe for the limited purpose of assisting this tribe in establishing eligibility for federal benefits and privileges.)
JOINT RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $500,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND BLACK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (This resolution would authorize the appropriation of the sum of $500,000 to the Rhode Island Black Business Association.)
Creates a new chapter for the support/access to bilingual education. It creates a dual language program fund to be administered by the department of education. Local education agencies would be eligible to apply to the department for funding. Eff. 7/1/24
Caps the total amount that a covered person is required to pay for a covered prescription asthma inhaler to twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per thirty (30) day supply.
Provides an exemption for certain incarcerated persons from the payment of fees for a first request for vital statistics from the department of health.
