Requires the health equity council to issue mandates related to the treatment of sickle cell disease; requires the commissioner of health to adhere to and act upon the recommendations and mandates of the health equity council.
Requires not-for-profit corporations have a board of directors which reflects the ethnic demographics of the communities that they serve to be able to receive state funds.
Relates to prohibiting insurance companies from requiring an individual to disclose if such individual has been diagnosed with an HIV infection or HIV-related illness or require such individual to submit to an HIV-related test prior to issuing or renewing a life insurance policy for such individual.
Requires the chancellor of the NYC department of education to establish a pilot program for the purpose of providing frozen take-home meals to certain children located in the city of New York; requires the chancellor of the NYC department of education to select one NYC public school from each borough to participate in such pilot program.
Directs the department of health to contract with community-based organizations and not-for-profit corporations for the provision of outreach, information and educational services to immigrants on the availability of health care services, medical assistance, emergency medical assistance, the family health plus program and the child health insurance plan.
Requires public hospitals to establish auto-immune disease treatment centers; authorizes the commissioner of health, with the assistance of the office of health equity, to make funds available to public hospitals for such purpose.
Relates to reporting unmet need, which is the number of eligible individuals seeking participation in a program or service who are not receiving such program or service due to insufficient resources or capacity.
Creates a city-wide council for district seventy-five to advise and comment on educational or instructional policies involving district seventy-five services.
Establishes the office of the youth public advocate in the executive office of the mayor; provides that the office will operate and maintain youth-related services and programs, including but not limited to, after school programs, jobs, literacy programs and youth internships, and will develop and implement policies to increase summer employment, high school admission, retention and graduation rates.
Establishes the "childcare and early education sector on the economy act" to study the economic impact on the state economy of quality childcare and early education programs for children aged 0-4, and afterschool programs for children aged 5-12.
Establishes integrated pest management requirements for hospitals including a requirement that all hospitals have pest management plans for pest control activities; makes related provisions.
